Abstract

Istraživanja pokazuju važnost omega-3 polinezasićenih masnih kiselina u regulaciji upalnih procesa koji su upravo glavni simptom upalnog artritisa. Cilj ovog rada bio je procijeniti unos omega-3 masnih kiselina u osoba s upalnim artritisom u posljednjih 6 mjeseci koristeći upitnik za procjenu unosa omega-3 masnih kiselina te ga usporediti s preporukama za unos omega-3 masnih kiselina koje su u istraživanjima pokazala protuupalne uĉinke. Ukupan prosjeĉan unos omega-3 polinezasićenih masnih kiselina ispitanika s upalnim artritisom (n=28) iznosi 1019,46 ± 1438,11 mg/dan, a prosjeĉan unos EPA (eikosapentaenska masna kiselina) + DHA (dokosaheksaenska masna kiselina) 214,54 ± 263,69 mg/dan što je manje od preporuĉenih 250 mg/dan za zdravu populaciju, a znatno manje od doze ribljeg ulja (3,5 g/dan EPA + DHA) koja pokazuje protuupalne uĉinke u osoba s reumatoidnim artritiosom. Iako je ĉak 71 % ispitanika bilo već ranije upoznato s pozitivnim uĉincima ribljeg ulja, ova populacija trebala bi povećati unos namirnica bogatih omega-3 masnim kiselinama.

Abstract (english)

The research shows the importance of the omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the regulation of the inflammatory processes, which are a symptom of inflammatory arthritis. The goal of this bachelor thesis was to estimate the intake of the omega-3 fatty acids in people with inflammatory arthritis in the last 6 months. This was done with the help of a food frequency questionnaire for the omega-3 fatty acids intake and by comparing the intake of the participants with the recommendations for the omega-3 fatty acids intake, which have shown anti-inflammatory effects in some research. The average daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids in the participants suffering from inflammatory arthritis (n=28), is 1019,46 ± 1438,11 mg/day and intake of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) + DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is 214,54 ± 263,69 mg/day, which is less than the recommended 250 mg/day for the healthy population and substantionally less than the doses of dietary fish oil (3,5 g/day EPA + DHA), which have shown promising anti-inflammatory effects in reumatoid arthritis patients. Although more than 71% of the participants were already familiar with the beneficial effects of the omega-3 acids, this population should increase the intake of food rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
