Abstract

Kao i kod opće populacije, prekomjerna tjelesna masa i pretilost bilježe porast kod zaposlene populacije te time utječu na povećanje rizika za razvoj kroničnih nezaraznih bolesti. S obzirom na bogatstvo dokaza o pozitivnom djelovanju mediteranske prehrane na zdravlje, upravo bi se takav način prehrane trebao usmjeriti prema zaposlenim osobama sa svrhom edukacije i prevencije bolesti. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je procijeniti prehrambene navike zaposlenih osoba s obzirom na spol te stupanj obrazovanja. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 166 ispitanika, 116 žena i 50 muškaraca, koji se trenutno nalaze u radnom odnosu. Istraživanje je provedeno putem online obrasca koji je sadržavao MEDAS (Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener) upitnik. Rezultati pokazuju statistički značajno veći prosječan ukupan broj bodova ostvaren putem MEDAS upitnika kod žena (6,0 ± 1,9), u odnosu na muškarce (4,9 ± 2,0), dok statistički značajna razlika u prosječnom broju bodova s obzirom na stupanj obrazovanja nije utvrđena. S obzirom na rezultate MEDAS upitnika može se zaključiti da su muškarci imali lošije prehrambene navike u usporedbi sa ženama, dok zaposlene osobe s višim i nižim stupnjem obrazovanja nisu imale različite prehrambene navike.

Abstract (english)

Similar to general population trends, the epidemic of overweight and obesity are also showing increase among workers thus affecting the risk of chronic non-contageous diseases. Considering numerous positive effects on health, the integration of the Mediterranean diet at workplace and education of workers are likely to be a effective strategy to improve health outcomes. The aim of this study was to determine the dietary habits among workers according to the gender and education level. The study included 166 employed participants, 116 women and 60 men. The study was conducted by an online form that consisted of the MEDAS (Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener) questionnaire. The results of the study showed significantly higher mean values of the MEDAS questionnaire score for women (6,0 ± 1,9) than men (4,9 ± 2,0), while there was no significantly difference in mean values considering the category of educational level. According to the results of the MEDAS questionnaire, it can be concluded that men had worse dietary habits compared to women, whereas employed persons with higher and lower levels of education did not have different dietary habits.
