Abstract
Jarebika (Sorbus aucuparia L.) listopadno je drvo čiji plod svrstavamo u bobičasto voće. Plod sadrži 78 kcal/100 g, a kemijski sastav čini 72 % vode, 0,55-1,70 % pepela, 6 % šećera, oko 3 % lipida te oko 3 % proteina. Podnosi raznovrsne uvjete rasta pa je stablo rašireno diljem sjeverne polutke. Plod je bogat antioksidansima što mu daje antiupalna, antidijabetička, antikancerogena te antimikrobna svojstva, a time ujedno i velik te neiskorišten potencijal za primjenom u prehrambenoj, farmaceutskoj i kozmetičkoj industriji te drvodjelstvu.
Abstract (english)
Rowanberry (Sorbus aucuparia L.) is a deciduous tree whose fruit is classified as a berry. The fruit has an energy content of 78 kcal/100 g and chemical composition consisting of 72 % water, 0.55-1.70 % ash, 6 % sugars and approximately 3 % lipids and 3 % protein. The tree can withstand diverse growth conditions so it is well spread over the Northern hemisphere. The fruit is rich in antioxidants which provide anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer and anti-microbial effects, therefore showing great and not sufficiently utilized potential for application in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry as well as in woodworking.
