Utjecaj prehrane na status bolesti kod djece i adolescenata s poremećajem iz spektra autizma

Abstract

Poremećaj iz spektra autizma (PSA) odnosi se na niz stanja koje karakterizira određeni stupanj narušenog socijalnog ponašanja, komunikacije i jezika te uzak raspon interesa i aktivnosti koji su ponavljajući i jedinstveni za pojedinca. Javlja se kod djece u razvoju, a zbog heterogenosti simptoma i manjka kvalitetne terapije liječnici i odgajatelji sve više se oslanjaju na nutritivne intervencije s ciljem ublažavanja simptoma. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je napraviti pregled znanstvene literature i istražiti utjecaj prehrane na status bolesti i ublažavanje njenih simptoma. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su da je najefikasnija metoda liječenja bila bezglutenska dijeta bez kazeina koja je, osim na gastrointestinalne simptome, povoljno utjecala na kognitivne i socijalne vještine djece. Također, kombinacija probiotika i prebiotika značajno je smanjila učestalost gastrointestinalnih komplikacija u djece s PSA. Uz individualan pristup svakom djetetu i prilagođenu prehranu, važna je edukacija roditelja i zdravstvenih djelatnika s ciljem ublažavanja simptoma i poboljšanja kvalitete života djece s PSA.

Abstract (english)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) refers to a set of conditions characterized by some degree of impaired social behavior, communication, and language, and a narrow range of interests and activities that are repetitive and unique to the individual. It occurs in developing children, and due to the heterogeneity of symptoms and lack of quality therapies, clinicians and caregivers increasingly rely on nutritional interventions to alleviate symptoms. The aim of this study was to review the scientific literature and examine the impact of diet on disease status and symptom relief. The results of the study showed that the most effective treatment method was a gluten-free diet without casein, which had a positive effect on the children's cognitive and social skills in addition to gastrointestinal symptoms. The combination of probiotics and prebiotics also significantly reduced the incidence of gastrointestinal complications in children with ASD. In addition to an individual approach to each child and an adapted diet, it is important to educate parents and healthcare professionals with the aim of alleviating symptoms and improving the quality of life of children with ASD.
