Abstract

Posljednjih godina sve je veće zanimanje za bakterijama mliječne kiseline (BMK) morskog podrijetla zbog njihovog neistraženog potencijala. Zbog prilagodbe na posebne uvjete života u morskoj vodi bitno se razlikuju od BMK kopnenog podrijetla, stoga se još istražuje njihova primjena u svim sferama života. Dosad utvrđen potencijal odnosi se na prebiotička i probiotička svojstva BMK, biokonzerviranje, bioremedijaciju teških metala i sl. Stoga je cilj ovog rada bio identificirati potencijalne izolate BMK iz probavnog sustava češljače Aequipecten opercularis, te ih identificirati fenotipskim metodama. Rezultati su potvrdili da se radi o skupini bakterija mliječne kiseline, a MALDI TOF analizom su dobiveni konačni rezultati identifikacije i zaključak da su sva tri bakterijska izolata vrste Lactobacillus plantarum. Kako bi se utvrdio potencijal navedenih izolata potrebno je provesti dodatne karakterizacije.

Abstract (english)

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in lactic acid bacteria (LAB) of marine origin due to their unexplored potential. Due to their adaption to special conditions of life in seawater, they differ significantly from LAB of terrestrial origin, therefore their application in all spheres of life is still being investigated. The potential that has been researched so far relates to the prebiotic and probiotic properties of LAB, biopreservation, bioremediation of heavy metals, etc. Therefore, the aim of this work was to identify potential isolates of LAB from the digestive system of the scallop Aequipecten opercularis, and to identify them using phenotypic methods. The results showed the presence of LAB, and MALDI TOF analysis provided the final identification results and concluded that all three bacterial isolates belong to Lactobacillus plantarum species. In order to determine the potential of the mentioned isolates, it is necessary to carry out additional characterizations.
