Abstract

Atopijski dermatitis (AD) je kronična recidivirajuća upalna dermatoza čija je prevalencija u konstantom porastu te su mogućnosti liječenja i prevencije ove bolesti sve češći predmet znanstvenih istraživanja. Osobe sklone atopiji uz AD mogu razviti i druge atopijske bolesti poput alergijskog rinitisa, astme i alergija na hranu. Jedina terapija za alergije na hranu su eliminacijske dijete koje ako se ne provode uz stalne konzultacije sa stručnom osobom mogu dovesti do negativnih posljedica, od kojih je najčešća deficit mikronutrijenata. Cilj ovog rada je pregledom stručne literature utvrditi najčešće deficite mikronutrijenata i njihove posljedice u osoba s AD-om te istražiti postoje li preporuke za oralnu suplementaciju mikronutrijenata za terapiju AD-a. Kod osoba s AD-om zabilježeni su deficiti vitamina C i D te cinka, selena i željeza. Još uvijek nije dokazano sigurno korištenje dodataka prehrani u terapiji AD-a te su potrebna dodatna istraživanja kojima bi se propisala sigurna doza i protokol suplementacije.

Abstract (english)

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic recurring inflammatory skin disorder, whose prevalence is constantly increasing, and the possibilities for treatment and prevention of this disease are becoming more frequent subjects of scientific research. Individuals prone to atopy, in addition to AD, may develop other atopic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma and food allergies. The only therapy for food allergies is elimination diets which, if not conducted with constant consultation with a healthcare provider, can lead to negative consequences, with micronutrient deficiency being the most common. The aim of this paper is to review the scientific literature to determine the most common micronutrient deficiencies and their consequences in individuals with AD and to explore whether there are recommendations for oral supplementation of micronutrients for AD therapy. Deficiencies of vitamin C and D, as well as zinc, selenium, and iron, have been observes in individuals with AD. The safe use of supplements in AD therapy has not yet been proven, and further research is needed to establish a safe dosage and supplementation protocol.
