Abstract

Diabetes mellitus tip 1 kronična je progresivna bolest koja neliječena vodi razvoju kroničnih komplikacija, što u konačnici rezultira smrtnim ishodom, a na čiji se tijek može utjecati pravilnom terapijom, te prilagođenom prehranom koja bi najviše odgovarala potrebama bolesnika, što dovodi do usporavanja progresije i prevencije nastanka komplikacija bolesti. Pretraživanjem najsuvremenijih znanstvenih istraživanja i stručne literature iznesene su i uspoređene tvrdnje i pretpostavke o karakteristikama bolesti, njenom tijeku, te utjecaju prehrane i liječenja na ishod bolesti, stečene kroz višegodišnja istraživanja na velikom broju ispitanika na razini cjelokupne svjetske populacije. Pravilnom terapijom i prehranom moguće je ostvariti niže vrijednosti i bolju regulaciju glukoze u krvi, uslijed čega se povećava kvaliteta i produljuje trajanje života bolesnika. Iako je bolest neizlječiva i ima kroničan tijek, na istu se pravilnom terapijom i prehranom može značajno povoljno utjecati.

Abstract (english)

Diabetes mellitus type 1 is a chronic progressive disease that untreated leads to the development of chronic complications, which ultimately results in death, and whose course can be affected by proper therapy, and a customized diet that meets the individual needs of patients, leading to slowing the progression and preventing the complications of the disease. Based on thorough literature search, here are presented and compared assertions and assumptions about the characteristics of the disease, its course, and the impact of diet and treatment on the outcome of the disease, acquired through many years of research on a large number of subjects from the entire world population. Proper therapy and diet can achieve lower scores and better regulation of blood glucose, resulting in increased quality and duration of life of patients. Although the disease is incurable and has a chronic course, proper therapy and diet can have significant and positive impact.
