Abstract

Šećerna bolest (diabetes mellitus) predstavlja jedan od najvećih javnozdravstvenih problema 21. stoljeća. Prehrana ima veliku ulogu u kontroli šećerne bolesti, stoga je cilj ovog istraživanja bio procijeniti raširenost zabluda o prehrani među osobama sa šećernom bolešću u Republici Hrvatskoj te utvrditi koji parametri utječu na učestalost zabluda među istima. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo ukupno 138 osoba sa šećernom bolešću. Najveći udio ispitanika (64,5 %) ima između 2 i 6 zabluda, a svega 6 (4,3 %) ispitanika nema niti jednu zabludu. Najraširenija zabluda vezana uz prehranu je da „hrana s nižim glikemijskim indeksom je „zdravija“ te ju osobe sa šećernom bolešću mogu jesti u većim količinama“. S obzirom na promatrane parametre utvrđeno je da osobe sa tipom 1 šećerne bolesti imaju manje zabluda od osoba sa tipom 2 (p<0,001). Kako bi se smanjila raširenost zabluda potrebno je ukazati na važnost edukacije od strane nutricionista te odabira informacija iz pouzdanih izvora.

Abstract (english)

Diabetes mellitus is one of the biggest health issues of the 21st century. Diet has a huge role in regulation of diabetes, so the aim of this study was the assessment of dietary misconceptions among the diabetic patients in Republic of Croatia. In this study, there were 138 participants with diabetes. Most of the participants (64.5 %) had between 2 and 6 misconceptions while only 6 participants didn't have any misconception at all. Among the all participants most spread misconceptions are that “food with lower glycaemic index is healthier and therefore can be eaten in bigger volume“. Related to observed parameters, people with type 1 diabetes have less misconceptions than people with type 2 (p<0,001). In order to reduce misconceptions, people with diabetes have to learn importance of nutritionist held education and to use reliable sources of information.
