Abstract

Sve veća prevalencija kroničnih bolesti potaknula je potrebu za osmišljavanjem mogućih rješenja i pokretanjem novih inicijativa u svrhu prevencije istih. Dok neki krivnju i sav teret prebacuju na prehrambenu industriju i proizvođače, s druge strane ističe se problem obrazovanja potrošača i njihovog razumijevanja informacija koje su dane na nutritivnim deklaracijama. Kao jedno od potencijalnih rješenja javlja se koncept semafor deklaracija koje, i 6 godina nakon što su uvedene u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, uzrokuju tenzije u čitavoj Europi ali i šire. Ideja je da se potrošaču na pojednostavljen i lako uočljiv način omogući brži i jednostavniji izbor zdravijeg prehrambenog proizvoda. No, iako je glavni cilj očuvanje sveopćeg zdravlja populacije, takva promjena zahtjeva uvođenje novih i promjene postojećih zakonskih propisa te se stavlja velik pritisak na proizvođače.

Abstract (english)

A rise in prevalence of chronic diseases has stimulated the need of finding solutions and starting up new initiatives for the purpose of preventing those diseases. While some put responsibility on the food industry and manufacturers, on the other hand there is an issue related to consumer education and their ability to understand the information given on nutrition labels. As one potential solution, the concept of traffic light labelling was introduced, which, even after 6 years that they have been approved and used in the United Kingdom, still cause tensions in whole Europe and even further. The idea is to enable the consumer to choose a healthier food option by presenting it with simplified, straightforward and easily noticeable information. Even though the main goal is to maintain the overall health of the population, introduction of any new nutrition label format requires new or adjustments of existing regulations and therefore puts great pressure on manufacturers.
