Abstract

U ovom radu ispitivan utjecaj visoke koncentracije natrijeva acetata na metabolizam organizama koji akumuliraju polifosfat (PAO) uzgojem na sintetičkoj otpadnoj vodi u SBR uređaju. Uvjeti rada u SBR uređaju prilagođeni su rastu PAO-a (prosječno t=15°C, pH=8,4) te je SBR uređaj radio u ciklusima od 6 h s izmjenom aerobne i anaerobne faze. Tijekom pokusa napravljeno je devet testiranja inhibicije biološke aktivnosti PAO-a različitim koncentracijama natrijeva acetata izraženim kao KPK vrijednost. Visoke koncentracija natrijeva acetata pokazuju utjecaj na metabolizam PAO-a i promjenu metabolizma u asimilaciju natrijeva acetata za aerobni rast uz smanjenje pohrane fosfata, što uzrokuje smanjenje asimilacije fosfora tijekom obrade otpadne vode.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of sodium acetate concentration on the metabolism of poly-phosphate accumulating organisms (PAO) during the enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) treatment of synthetic wastewater in a laboratory SBR. Conditions in the SBR were adjusted to promote the growth of PAO (average t=15°C, pH=8.4) and the SBR worked in 6 h treatment aerobic/anaerobic cycles to ensure the most efficient EBPR. During the experiment, nine biological activity inhibition testing’s were carried out, with different concentrations of sodium acetate, the only carbon source in the SBR and expressed as COD values. The results show the impact of high sodium acetate concentration on the metabolism of PAO and the shift in PAO metabolism to mostly accumulating sodium acetate, which lowers the accumulation of phosphorus during the wastewater treatment process.
